2011 – The Doubleclicks launch the first of their T-shirts (graphic designed by Brad Jonas).

2013 – Earlier in the year, or maybe even late 2012 (I need to ask) The Doubleclicks were commissioned by two of their fans to write a personalized song for their upcoming wedding. That wedding happens this very day! 🙂
Before going any further. The Doubleclicks Archive wants to say a very big thank you to Axsister for giving us her ok to share this very special song with the world, and for her generous gift of materials relating to it that have now been added to the archive.
The story of how the song came to be can be found in this NY Times article from July 18, 2014.

Offbeat Bride (now Offbeat Wedding) has a good story on the wedding and it’s theme, with lots of pictures, and some additional details related to the song.

From the wedding packet. The custom sleeve they made for the CDs, and the CD itself.

The Doubleclicks signed (and Laser doodled) one of the CD sleeves. 🙂

The lyric card (there’s more of the song on the back, but I don’t have a picture of it). You can find the full lyrics at the bottom of this entry.

“I Wanna Say I Do” being played for their guests for the first time.
And finally, here’s “I Wanna Say I Do” in .mp3 format for your listening enjoyment. If you’ll indulge me for a moment. The first time I heard it almost a year ago I thought it was absolutely charming. Made even more so because I already knew some of the couple’s history thanks to the NYT and Offbeat Bride stories. I also thought it felt and sounded very much like a classic early Doubleclicks song, and I was really hoping that others would be able to hear it one day (for those who are curious as to why I didn’t just release it when I first found it? It was a judgment call based on its subject matter being about two specific people, and it being highly personal in nature).
